World number 14 Angelique Kerber extended her winning streak to 11 matches after edging over Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki to clinch the Stuttgart Grand Prix title.
The German recovered from being a set down, to edge the former world number one Wozniacki with a 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 victory.
Wozniacki got the final off to an impressive start by sealing a 6-3 win in the first set. But the 27 year-old Kerber regained her composure and ran rampant in the second set to win it 6-1 before clinching the third set 7-5.
This victory marks Kerber’s second straight title this year, having won in Charleston two weeks ago. This also makes her the third-ever German to win the Stuttgart Grand Prix title.
