2012 Olympic bronze-medallist Pandelela Rinong suffered a semi-final exit in the women’s 10m platform event at the 2015 FINA World Diving Series.
The Malaysian diving queen, who was bidding to secure her first medal of the season, failed to progress beyond the semis after only collecting 335.20 points to secure fourth spot. Only the top three divers progress into the final.
The 22 year-old started off on a high, collecting 72.00 points in her first dive. But in her following three dives, she only managed to clock 69.60, 62.40, 54.40 respectively, failing to hit the 70 point mark.
Canada’s Meaghan Benfeito sealed the victory, collecting a total of 375.80 points, while Mexico Alejandra Orozco claimed second with 347.95 points. Yulia Timoshinina on the other hand, took third with a total of 342.00 points.
This also marks the first time that Pandelela has failed to qualify for the final since her first appearance in 2011.
