PDRM have seized top spot in the Super League table, courtesy of a resounding 3-1 victory over rivals Terengganu FA earlier today.
The away side came into the match on a high, having booked their spot in the semi finals of the FA Cup by beating Perak in midweek, but a well-rested PDRM side seized control of the match from kick-off. That eventually led to the first goal, as Shahurain Abu Samah fired home on the 7th minute mark to put PDRM 1-0 ahead.
But PDRM being PDRM, they continued being relentless in search of a second goal, which eventually came 10 minutes later. Dramane Traore, whose goalscoring exploits have played a part in their monumental rise this season, found the back of the net through an interesting set-piece move, to make it 2-0.
Merely three minutes later, it was 3-0. And it was none other than Ali Ashfaq, their Maldivian forward, who unleashed a curled effort that hit the back of the net to leave Terengganu with more than a mountain to climb.
The third goal injected some much needed urgency into Terengganu as they kept it tight at the back and held on go into half-time with the score remaining the same.
After the break, Abdul Rahman Ibrahim’s side were far more organized in their movement and attack, as the likes of Rangel and Gustavo Lopez started getting into the game. Their efforts were incredibly commendable, though the breakthrough only came right at the death as Issey Nakajima slotted home a consolation goal on the 90th minute mark
Moments later, the final whistle was blown as PDRM effectively took charge of the Super League table following Selangor’s defeat to Kelantan.
