The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have filed a request to the Badminton World Federation (BWF), in order to speed up the process of unveiling Lee Chong Wei’s doping scandal verdict.
The independent panel could not derive a verdict during the hearing that was held earlier this month, before announcing that the verdict would be released after three weeks.
But with the Sudirman Cup and SEA Games edging closer, BAM are keen to finalize their plans for both tournament, and knowing LCW’s fate would allow them to plan his schedule as well.
“If possible, we want Chong Wei to be involved in the Sudirman Cup tournament and the SEA Games. We will take the initiative so that we don’t have to wait up to three weeks.”
After attending the opening ceremony of the International Conference on Sports Medicine and Sciene, he told reporters: “We have all carried out our responsibility to provide the best defence for Chong Wei, so hopefully our presentations and arguments give a positive effect.”
The former world number one was temporarily suspended by the BWF on November 11, 2014 after traces of the banned substance dexamethasone was detected in his system while competing at the World Championship in Copenhagen, Denmark last August.
