Malaysian diving prodigy Chew Yiwei bagged two silver medals for Malaysia in the mixed 10m synchronized platform and men’s 3m synchronized platform events at the 2015 Puerto Rico World Diving Grand Prix.
Alongside 2014 Junior Olympic Games silver-medallist, Loh Zhiayi, Yiwei managed to finish second in the mixed 10m synchronized platform event. Despite being recently paired, both men showcased brilliant performances when they collected 273.09 points, finishing 48.48 points ahead of third-placed Maha Absel Salam-Mohab Ishak of Egypt.
However, they failed to finish ahead of Brazilian pair, Luiz Felipe Outrelo and Ingrid Oliviera, who won by 8.55 points.
Yiwei’s second silver medal was secured alongside Ooi Tze Liang in the men’s 3m Synchronized Springboard event. Similarly, the duo managed to power through the competition when they collected the second highest score despite being a relatively new pair as well.
China’s Bowen Huang and Anqi Wang collected 414.93 points to claim the gold medal, while the bronze was secured by Belarus’ Vadim Kaptur and Yauheni Karaliou.
