Sime Darby’s Ismail Zakaria rejects sack talk

Sime Darby head coach, Ismail Zakaria has affirmed that he still has the backing of the management to continue guiding the team, dismissing speculations that were linking him with an exit

Ismail’s job was reportedly in jeopardy as Sime Darby have failed to record a single win in the Super League this season, and they are currently rooted to the bottom of the table with one point from eight games.

However, the 53 year-old claims that he’s not on the verge of being sack and has vowed to make amends by triumphing in the match against Kelantan.

“As far as the speculations are concerned, well what can I say? I’m still the head coach of Sime Darby and I have the support and trust of the management to revive the fortunes of this team,” Ismail was quoted as saying by Kosmo.

According to Ismail, the numerous defeats had not lowered down the team’s fighting spirit at all and it will be crucial for them to improve their form.

“We have never given up hope. It’s just that luck is not on our side. The players have worked so hard and the loss is just to motivate them to aim for victory.”

“The match against Kelantan will not be an easy one because we will be playing in Kota Bharu whilst facing thousands of home fans. That would be an advantage for the opponent,” he added.

The match between Sime Darby and Kelantan will take place at the Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV in Kota Bharu tonight.
