Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) technical director Morten Frost Hansen has revealed that Hendrawan will be replacing Tey Seu Bock as Datuk Lee Chong Wei’s coach.
Recent speculations have suggested that BAM were looking hand Chong Wei a fresh start, and the former Danish star has now confirmed the move, claiming that timing behind the decision is perfect as well.
“This is the best time to make the change, looking at how long Chong Wei has been under the same coach,” Morten Frost told Sinar Harian.
“This could potentially be a good change and the transition will only benefit the squad. I hope it’s accepted by everyone as well.”
Besides Chong Wei, the 2000 Olympic Games silver-medalist will also be taking charge of three other players, including Liew Daren, Iskandar Zulkarnain and Cheam June Wei.
Should the result of Chong Wei’s BWF hearing be positive, the former world number one will immediately shift his attention towards qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
