Azraai Khor’s frustrating start to life at Kelantan continued as the Red Warriors succumbed to a 3-1 defeat against Johor DT at the Larkin Stadium.
Kelantan have not won a single game under Azraai, and they came into this one in massive need of a morale boost. While they started the game brilliantly, Johor DT eventually got into their strides to score three goals and clinch the win.
Azraai started his two new signings, Austin Amutu and Gilmar in this match; a move that paid immediate dividends as the duo combined to put Kelantan ahead within eight minutes of the game; Amutu was the goalscorer.
But 10 minutes later, it was level again. Hariss Harun found the back the net to restore parity and make the score 1-1; which shifted the momentum onto the home side as well.
Bojan Hodak’s men kept pushing on the offensive, and their efforts led to the second goal as Alhaji Kamara scored his first ever goal for JDT, since making the move from Sweden.
But that wasn’t enough. Four minutes before the break, Amri Yahya showcased brilliant vision to score their third goal and effectively put the home side on the driving seat, heading into half time.
After the break, Kelantan worked their socks off and pushed hard on the offensive, but Gilmar was largely kept out of the game by Marcos Antonio, while Amutu eventually faded as the game progressed.
Both sides had several key opportunities, none of them though, were converted due to reasons ranging from inaccurate finishes to excellent saves from the goalkeepers. Either way, the scoreline remained the same until full-time as JDT got back to winnings ways in the Super League, at the expense of Kelantan’s continuous suffering.
