Malaysian mixed doubles shuttlers Tan Aik Quan and Lai Pei Jing have been knocked out of the China Masters after suffering a quarter-final exit at the hands of Liu Cheng-Bao Yixin.
The Chinese duo, who are top seeds in this competition, dispatched the Malaysian team with a narrow 21-19. 21-18 victory. As a result, they will next face either Indonesia’s Chayut Triyachart-Shinta Mulia or another Malaysian pair in the form of Chan Peng Soon-Goh Yiu Ling, depending on the outcome of that match.
Similarly, another Malaysian team, Tan Chee Tean-Lai Shevon Jemie, also got knocked out in the quarters of the China Masters after losing to Wang Yilv and Tang Yuanting.
The young mixed doubles team, who were only paired together one year ago, were defeated in 29 minutes, with the score being 21-11, 21-13.
