Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) technical director Morten Frost believes that Datuk Lee Chong Wei still has was it takes to showcase his talent when he returns to the court.
The former world number one who has just returned to Malaysia following the much awaited BWF hearing on his doping scandal over the weekend, has resumed training.
Despite his absence from tournaments since last September, Frost claimed that he is still fit for upcoming tournaments.
The badminton king’s future in the sport will soon be revealed as the BWF panels verdict on his decision is expected to be announced within 3 weeks.
Frost though feels like the span of waiting for the verdict, would be the Chong Wei’s greatest hurdle as he prepares for the upcoming tournaments.
“The dateline for the Australian Open is today, Indonesian Open is next week (April 21), so the longer the BWF panel takes to make a decision, the more datelines are missed.” Frost told Astro Awani.
“So we hope there will be a good decision soon,” he said.
According to the BWF official website, 39 individual quota places from the top ranked shuttlers by 5th May 2016, will be allocated to the men’s singles category.
Besides world rankings, players must secure a minimum of three singles tournaments that is counted in the world ranking list in the Olympic qualifying period from May 4th, 2015 till May 5th 2016.The tournaments include the Sudirman Cup, World Championships, Thomas and Uber Cup, Grand Prix gold and other international evens that certified by the BWF.
