Malaysia failed to keep their momentum going as they succumbed to their third defeat of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup earlier today.
Despite being India yesterday, they suffered a 3-2 defeat against South Korea in what was a rather topsy-turvh match.
The Korean team dominated the initial stages of the match and seized the lead on the 3rd minute as Lee Jung Jun’s backhand reverse goal gave them a 1-0 lead.
Malaysia then bucked their defence up in the second quarter though Korea’s Lee Nam Yong, when he scored a low drag flick goal on the 28th minute.
Spurred on by a boisterous home crowd, Tai Beng Hai’s men bounced back and found their grip when Malaysian hockey star Faizal Saari netted a penalty corner on the 32nd minute.
Two minutes later, Razie Abd Rahim came to the rescue to level the score and make it 2-2 on the 34th minute.
Korea then fought hard in the next minute, allowing Kim Yong Jin to score a goal and make it 3-2; a scoreline that ultimately remained till the end of the match.
With tomorrow being a rest day, Malaysia will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on Canada on Saturday.
