National rugby head coach Lee Nyuk Fah is extremely frustrated at being forced to alter his plans for the upcoming Asian Rugby Championship after five players from the national squad were directed to train with the national rugby sevens team.
Adzmir Zeinol Abidin, Fairuz Rahman, Anwarul Hafiz, Suffian Kamil and Safuwan Abdullah have been impressive under the tutelage of Nyuk Fah’s tutelage, which led to their inclusion in the rugby sevens team that will be competing in the SEA Games.
But as far as Lee Nyuk Fah is concerned, the Malaysian Rugby Union should be prioritizing the ARC over the SEA Games as it presents the perfect opportunity for Malaysia to be promoted into division one and continue scaling good heights on the international scene.
“My plans have been destroyed. They are important players and this situation is such a massive headache,” Nyuk Fah told Harian Metro.
“The ARC is more important because we’ll get a chance to move into division one if we clinch the title again. The tournament will be tough this time around, with teams like Taiwan in it. And I have to admit, if those players were around, they could do wonders for us,” he added.
