The clash between Liverpool and Arsenal was billed as one that would potentially be a rather close battle, considering how both sides have been on absolute form in recent times.
But when the match kicked off, it was evident that Liverpool were carrying extra baggage from their frustrating defeat to Manchester United last week. Arsenal started dominating the midfield battle, and though they took 37 minutes to break the deadlock, the Gunners only needed one goal to dismantle their defence, before more started going in.
Hector Bellerin scored, before Mesut Ozil made it 2-0 on the 40th minute mark. But just when Brendan Rodgers was looking to get his team into the tunnel at half time, Alexis Sanchez popped up with a third goal to give Arsenal a 3-0 lead at the break.
After the break, there was a mini revival, as Jordan Henderson made it 3-1 from the spot, though Olivier Giroud eventually added a fourth one to seal a momentous win that boosted their bid of finishing in the top four.
And as expected, the internet exploded in style!
