While Malaysia were recognized as Asian giants in the 70s and 80s, their reputation and credibility went on a downward spiral, following a major match-fixing scandal in the mid 90s. Since then, the local football scene has struggled to regain its magic up until 2010, when Datuk K. Rajagopal led the national team to an unprecedented triumph in the AFF Suzuki Cup. They started the tournament badly, losing 5-0 to Indonesia. But King Raja’s men held on and eventually progressed to the final, where they outclassed Indonesia to not only avenge their embarrassing defeat, but also seize the AFF crown. This victory eventually restored confidence within local football fans.

4. GOALS GALORE!

This is particularly terrific, because it’s a fine compilation of the top 50 goals in the history of Malaysian football. Bear in mind that it’s a fan-made compilation, so there isntly exactly an official word on the inclusion of exclusion of goals from this list. Nevertheless, it’s a fantastic video, and it makes you realise the amount of potential that actually exists within the country.

5. MALAYSIAN FOOTBALL’S PHILOSOPHY?

During the glorious days of Bola@Mamak on Astro Supersport, the rivalry between Dez Corkhill and The Orangeman is one that’s always attracting interest from fans, primarily due to the various discussions they’d have on local football. This particular 15 minute segment, focuses on Malaysian football’s general philosophy as of today, and where does the future lie. Both men have fair points to be honest, which makes this a fantastic watch!
