Jamaican youngster Jorginho James moved one step closer towards securing a deal to play for Perak FA after impressing in their 1-1 draw against ATM last night.
The Seladangs are currently hosting five trialists from various locations as they seek to sign new foreign players when they April transfer window opens in a few days.
Datuk M. Karathu claimed that he has been impressed with some of these players, though Jorginho certainly staked his claim with a solid performance last night. The 20 year-old attacking midfielder, who is also capable of playing upfront, scored Perak’s only goal last night, courtesy of a fine finish, that secured the draw.
Jorginho is currently unattached, though he last played for Harbour View FC in Jamaica’s top football division; the Red Stripe Premier League. He burst into the scene as a 17 year-old, making his debut for the Jamaican national team. He come on a substitute against Cuba on the 82nd minute, before scoring on his debut, just five minutes later.
Besides him, another trialist that appears to be doing well on Coach Karathu’s radar is Yaikel Perez, a 30 year-old striker from Cuba. Yaikel failed to score against ATM last night, but has done well in training sessions thus far. While Jorginho is relatively young, Yaikel is an experienced striker, who last played for Fort Lauderdale in the North American Soccer League.
