Yonex Indian Open: Malaysian reps get knocked out

Malaysia’s representatives in the second round of the 2015 Yonex India Open have been sent packing with both the women’s and mixed doubles team suffering a defeat.

Mixed doubles shuttlers Tan Aik Quan and Lai Pe Jing, suffered a close defeat to Indonesia’s Edi Subaktiar and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja. They lost the first set 21-19, before bouncing back to clinch the second set comfortably with a 21-14 margin. But the Indonesians were far more superior in the third set, winning it 21-15, to effectively book their spot in the next round.

Meanwhile, women’s doubles duo Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei, also picked up a second round defeat after getting demolished by Hong Kong’s Chan Kaka Tze Ka and Tse Ying Suet.

Both teams would have an opportunity to bounce back when the Malaysia Open begins, next week. Vivian and Khe Wei will be facing Netherlands’ Samantha Barning and Iris Tabelling, while the mixed doubles shuttlers will be taking on Sweden’s Emilie Fabbeke and Jonathan Nordh in the opening round.
