National swimmer Khoo Cai Lin is looking to use the ongoing Malaysia Swimming Open as a platform to not only clock in crucial hours in a competitive tournament, but also improve on her timings to secure a SEA Games slot.
The Malaysian swimming squad for the upcoming edition of the games, will be decided after the Malaysian Open, and judging by Cai Lin’s performance thus far, she will almost certainly be a part of it.
But the 26 year-old is determined to stay focused and keep her momentum going over the next few months.
“My goal is to do well in this tournament and qualify for the SEA Games,” she told FourthOfficial.com
“I’m also trying to lower my qualification time for the World Championship as well as make the cut for the Rio Olympics. But right now, I’m primarily focused on the SEA Games.”
Cai Lin got her Malaysian Open campaign off to a solid start by clinching gold medal in the 400m Individual Medley event, where she also set a new personal best time, that was merely 1.3 seconds shy off the Olympic B cut. She will be competing in the 200m freestyle event today.
