National youth bowler Nora Lyana Nastasia Norkamal has secured Malaysia’s second gold medal at the 18th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships after defeating Singapore’s Joy Yap and Alisha Nabila.
The 18 year-old who competed in the women’s junior singles category, nailed 1,359 pins to down Joy Yap’s 1344 pins while fellow Singaporean Alisha knocked down 1,308 pins to secure the bronze medal.
Nora Lyana managed to overcome the challenge of competing with 40 other individuals after securing 200 pinfalls in the opening round. She then went on to improve in the following three rounds by notching 257, 247 and 226 pins respectively.
In the fifth game though, she dropped four pins behind Yap after only posting 219 though she eventually bounced back in the final round by securing 210 pinfalls to seal the 15-pin win.
This victory is Malaysia’s second gold medal in the competition, after Muhammad Rafiq’s triumph in the boys’ singles category.
