Five foreign players arrive in Perak for trial stint

Five foreign players have arrived in Ipoh as Datuk M. Karathu begins the process of identifying two brand new import signings, in a bid to beef up his squad.

The Perak FA head coach has been relatively clear about his discontent with the existing foreigners, particularly Chad Souza and Marco Tulio. Both men have struggled to make an impact this year, and they certainly don’t fit in Karathu’s plans for the team.

But while he will have a say on the shortlisted candidates, the final decision for confirming a foreign signing, will be at the behest of the Perak FA management.

“I understand that several players have arrived in Ipoh for trials,” Perak FA President Datuk Zainol Fadzi told Harian Metro.

“Datuk M. Karathu did make it clear to us, that he wants the foreigners replaced, especially in attack. So I’ll let him to his job now in evaluating them and the decision will ultimately be made by the management,” he added.

While Chad Souza and Marco Tulio are on the verge of leaving the club, coach Karathu has been impressed with his two other foreign players, Namkung Woong as well as Thiago Aquino.

Namkung has been a revelation upfront, scoring plenty of goals while also being a crucial team player. As for Thiago, the Brazilian’s leadership skills at the back has visibly played an important role in their strong start to the season.
