Yonex India Open: Zulfadli Zulkifli sent packing in qualifiers

National Independent shuttler Zulfadli Zulkiffli was sent packing by India’s Sameer Verma in the qualifying round of the Yonex Sunrise India Open earlier today.

India’s third rank player took 47 minutes, in what was the second longest game of the day, to wrap up a 21-13, 23-21 victory over Zulfadli.

Verma managed to down the Malaysian comfortably in the opening set but the second one was far more challenging. Verma though, stayed focused to eventually win it by two points.

This defeat now leaves Malaysia with no representatives in the men’s singles at the Indian Open. Zulfadli though, will have the opportunity to turn things around when the Malaysian Open starts later this week.
