Former Formula One driver Michael Schumacher is officially Formula One’s richest driver in the sport’s history.
Schumacher is estimated to be worth £521.49m, topping Fernando Alonso, who comes in second place with £147m and reigning F1 champions Lewis Hamilton, who is fifth with £73m.
According to reports by Wealth-X, Schumacher’s wealth represents 43% of the combined net worth of the top ten richest Formula One drivers, four of whom have retired from the sport.
Former drivers in the top ten list include Eddie Irvine, Alan Prost and David Coulthard while the current drivers include Kimi Raikonnen, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg.
Schumacher, who got induced into a coma after his ski accident in the French Alps almost 15 months ago, is still in the midst of his recovery process.
