The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) has finally made the switch to a new constitution, putting an end to weeks of drama and uncertainty.
Following the crisis involving its old constitution and the MHC elections earlier this year, members of the organization finally voted in favour of the new constitution at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) that was held last week.
This officially means that two brand new deputy presidents post will be occupied by one male and one female.
“There are several changes to the organisational structure under the new constitution, whereby the governing council is dropped.” Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah told reporters after the EGM.
A new executive committee will be running MHC, featuring one president, two deputy presidents, seven vice presidents, a CEO as well as a treasurer. The secretary-general post has been removed and replaced with the CEO post, though individuals that occupy it will not have voting rights, alongside the treasurer.
MHC will now seek the Sports Commissioner’s approval before proceeding with the AGM, which is scheduled to be held on May 13.
