Azraai Khor confirms Kelantan talks

Former Kedah head coach Azraai Khor Abdullah confirmed that he has had talks with Kelantan FA over taking charge of the East Coast side in the Malaysia Super League this season.

Speculations on current head coach George Boateng, has been going rife over the past one week, with sources suggesting that Tan Sri Annuar Musa isn’t too pleased with the Dutchman’s management abilities this season.

While Kelantan have had a topsy-turvy season, what seems to irk TSAM, is their inability to score goals despite investing in foreign signings who were known in their previous clubs for being regular goal-getters, and he thinks Boateng’s ineffectiveness played a part in their dry start to the season.

Since then, rumours have been linking Azraai Khor Abdullah to the post in Kota Bharu, and the experienced head coach decision to prematurely end a football-related trip to Brazil heightened every single speculation as well. However, the 62 year-old has now confirmed that he is on the verge of being roped in as Boateng’s replacement.

“We’re still in the stage of discussion and negotiation. Nothing between both parties is official yet,” Azraai told Utusan Melayu.

“If everything goes well, I’ll be heading to Kelantan. But I leave it up to the management, it’s their decision. If I’m appointed, I’ll be looking to utilize all the knowledge I picked up in Brazil, to help Kelantan do well this season,” he added.

The Kelantan management will reportedly be having a meeting tomorrow [Monday], where a final decision will be made on George Boateng and Azraai Khor. Tan Sri Annuar Musa is also expected to release a statement on his Facebook page over the next few days.
