2015 Swiss Open: V Shem-Wee Kiong charge into semis

National men’s doubles shuttlers Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong are through to the semi finals of the Swiss Open after defeating Japan’s
Takuto Inoue-Yuki Kaneko yesterday.

They took 39 minutes to secure the win, beating the Japanese duo on straight sets to book their spot in the last four. The first set was a rather tight one as V Shem and Wee Kiong clinched it 23-21, but they confidently notched the second one 21-18 to extend their solid run in this tournament.

As far as the semis are concerned, they will either be facing Indonesia’s Fernaldi-Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo or Denmark’s Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen.

Meanwhile, national mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying were knocked out of the competition by Indonesia’s Riky Widianto-Puspita Richi Dili, losing 17-21, 19-21.
