Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) rider Mohd Adiq Husainie Othman managed to securea podium finish in the fifth stage of the 2015 Le Tour de Langkawi, from Kuala Terengganu to Kuantan.
The Kemamam-born rider fought his way through the 200km stage, clocking 4 hours and 19 minutes to finish behind Indonesia’s Jamalidin Novardianto and South Korea’s Seo Joon Yong.
This victory makes him the second Malaysian rider to secure a medal in the tournament; fellow Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) rider Anuar Manan had finished third in the first stage of LTdL, from Langkawi to Pantai Cenang.
Adiq, who was initially seeking to retain his maillot blanc or more commonly known as the white jersey award that he secured on Tuesday, still remains optimistic of being able to reclaim the award from China’s Zhang Wenlong, who is 11 minutes ahead of him.
The 23 year-old will have a chance of doing better when the sixth stage, from Maran to Karak, takes place tomorrow.
