British number one Andy Murray is considering working alongside former world number 4 Jonas Bjorkman with a view of adding him to his full-time coaching team.
The Swede will be assisting Murray’s coach Amelie Mauresmo, who only works with Murray for 25 weeks a year.
Murray has been looking for a second coach to work with Mauresmo and blamed her absence for his poor performances at the Rotterdam Open as well as the Dubai Open, where he was sent packing in the last eight.
Bjorkman will be spending a week with Murray next month and will most likely join his coaching team permanently after that.
“I know him very well from when he played. When I came on the tour when I was young, he was very good to me.” Murray was quoted saying by BBC.
“He’s got a good resume as a player and a lot of the Swedes turn out to be pretty good coaches.”
“I think they have a good mindset, a lot of them are very calm individuals but extremely hard workers – which I know he was as a player.”
Mauresmo, who has not accompanied Murray since his Australian Open final defeat to Djokovic, will be joining him at the Indian Wells this week.
