Women’s World Hockey League: Malaysia humiliate Singapore 5-0

Malaysia women’s hockey squad continued their excellent form at the ongoing World Hockey League by thrashing Singapore 5-0 earlier today.

Having defeated Kazakhstan and Russia in the previous two games, Malaysia went into this one high on confidence and they were certainly rewarded for their excellent display, scoring two goals in the first half before netting three more after the break to make it 5-0.

The star of the day was none other than Sylvester Silin, who netted a hat-rick on the day, while Rabiatul Adawiyah fired the other two strikes. Singapore did try to bounce back on several occassions though the Malaysian defence was sturdy enough to keep a clean sheet.

The victory also means that they top Pool B with maximum points after three games, and will now face Ghana in the knockout rounds. Should they defeat Ghana in the final, they will most likely defeat Poland, who are heavy favourites to make it to the semis.
