Williams’s driver Felipe Massa believes that Toro Rosso’s 17 year-old driver Max Vestappen is too young to race in Formula One.
Verstappen is on the verge of becoming the youngest driver in Formula One’s history when he makes his debut at the Australian Grand Prix (GP).
But according to AFP, the Brazilian veteran claimed that Vestappen is coming in too early despite the talent that he has.
“I came into Formula One at 20 — and I felt I lacked experience,” Felipe Massa told AFP.
Verstappen though, believes that his age would not matter and that it does not bother him as he seeks to break all the records.
“No, not at all [is he bothered by being the youngest],” Verstappen told Telegraph.
“I want to break other records. I want to break all the records. The records for most victories, for most world titles. That’s what matters. I’m not bothered about the age I win. I just want to win the World Championship.”
While he would not be able to drive legally on the roads in Netherlands, Verstappen will be racing for Toro Rosso this year, alongside fellow debutant Carlos Sainz.
