Amelie Mauresmo to be inducted into 2015 Hall of Fame

Two-time grand slam champion Amelie Mauresmo was announced as a 2015 inductee into the International Tennis Hall of Fame,

Mauresmo, who was the first French woman to be ranked as world number one will be joined by Nancy Jeffett and Australian David Hall in the class of 2015.

However, the nominees will be only be inducted after receiving at least 75% support from the Hall of Fame committee.

“Amelie and David were both inspiring and highly accomplished competitors on the professional tours,” Hall of Fame president Stan Smith told AFP.

“Nancy’s commitment to tennis has been integral to the growth of the sport and will leave a permanent positive impact on tennis for years to come. We look forward to celebrating their many accomplishments.”

The former world number one, who was famous for her one-handed backhand and strong net play, has 25 career titles under her belt and secured the runners-up medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
