Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) rider Adiq Husainieis determined to keep hold of the white jersey to become the first Malaysian to clinch it and be hailed as the best Asian rider at Le Tour de Langkawi.
The national cyclist managed to prove his capabilities by clinching the maillot blanc or more commonly known as the white jersey award from Hengxiang Cycling Team’s Ma Guangtong after accomplishing a time of 6 hours 49 minutes and 35 seconds. He now leads the Asian rider’s classification by two seconds.
“I will certainly be doing my best to retain this jersey,” Adiq told Harian Metro.
Adiq also claimed the decision of replacing the Genting Highland route with the Frasers’ Hill route would give him an advantage as he finds the latter far easier and is more comfortable with the map as well.
That being said, he remains wary of the threat posed by Ma Guang Tong and Wang Meiyin, both of whom are keeping tabs on the white jersey as well.
