Josh Smith is set to make his inaugural start with Houston Rockets, ahead of their exciting clash against San Antonio Spurs.
The NBA star will most likely be named in the first five, which effectively benches Donatas Motiejunas. Kevin McHale, who is Rockets’ coach, revealed that Smith has been able to assimilate with the squad within the span of one training session, impressing with his flexibility and ability to play back-up center and power forward.
“We had a practice yesterday, I think he’s picked up enough of what we’re doing,” said Houston coach Kevin McHale.
“I’m trying to start as much as we can to get our rotations down, if we can get people healthy,” McHale said. “In the next 33 days, we play (19) games. We want to try to get that rotation down the best we could.”
“I don’t care who you are in this league or what team you’re at, nobody can sustain a lot of injuries when they keep on going for a while,” McHale said.
“We went through it earlier, it’s just tough.”
