Exclusive: Juzaili Samion pinpoints Safee as Malaysia’s wildcard

Sime Darby FC’s skipper Juzaili Samion believes that Safee Sali could potentially turn things around for Malaysia as they prepare to take on Thailand at the Bukit Jalil Stadium tomorrow.

Malaysia suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Thais in the first leg of the Suzuki Cup final last Wednesday, leaving them a massive mountain to hike in the second leg. But according to Juzaili, Safee could exactly be the man Malaysia need to do that.

“In my honest opinion, I feel that Safee Sali can turn things around for us,” Juzaili told FourthOfficial.com exclusively.

“He has performed very well in the competition so far. Every player has their ups and downs, but Safee has been impressive so far. I think he will help us.”

While Malaysia were relatively impressive in the first half, Thailand upped their tempo after the break to systematically dismantle the Dollah’s defensive set-up and Juzaili feels that the Thai midfield was responsible for that. That being said, he’s still backing Malaysia to triumph on Saturday.

“Thailand have excellent midfielders in their team. Even their defence is relatively strong as well.

“But in terms of fighting spirit, I think we have an advantage. I still feel that we’ll be able to provide a massive fight and manifest a comeback victory on Saturday,” he added.
