VIDEO: Thailand’s scintillating 27-pass move vs Malaysia

There’s no doubting the fact that Thailand are perhaps the strongest footballing nation in South East Asia, if you were to analyze the quality present within their local league. And they have always been traditional powerhouses in football competitions involving the region as well, as depicted by their consistent displays in the last few editions of the AFF Suzuki Cup.

But last night, Kiatisuk Senamuang’s boys (yes, boys) turned on the style against Malaysia, showcasing terrific understanding of the game to systematically dismantle the experienced Malaysian defence. They broke the deadlock though Charyl Chappuis’ spot kick, but went on to then increase their lead through a majestic counter attack that was amplified by nothing but sheer pace. And of course, Kroekrit’s clinical finish from within the box as well.

But a few minutes later, Thailand almost pulled off a move that would have seen them trend worldwide last night. On the 89th minute mark, the entire team combined in a sublime 27-pass move that resembled Barca’s tiki-taka style, as they oozed past the protective membrane that was constructed by Shukor Adan and Co, only for Charyl Chappuis to fire his shot wide off target.

Both sets of fans applauded the Thai team right after that move because in that small gap of time, it was never about victory. It was purely about the beautiful game.
