FAM website allegedly hacked by Vietnamese supporters

The Football Association of Malaysia’s website was allegedly hacked into by angry Vietnamese supporters earlier today, after the shameful incident that took place last night.

Vietnam secured a 2-1 win over Malaysia in the Suzuki Cup last night, and a small group of Malaysian supporters attacked Vietnamese fans within the Shah Alam Stadium, beating them up while also hurling water bottles towards them.

Images of the attack were posted online, with Vietnamese fans going berserk on social networking accounts to criticize the incident, before also warning Malaysians to expect a hostile reception in Hanoi, where they second leg will take place.

But it seems that the threat did not stop there, as Vietnamese hackers also made their way into the FAM website to bring it down, before posting this message:

“Bọn nó Chơi xấu quá ……Tất cả hacker vn đồng loạt ddos vào các trang webmalaysia … Kymljnk sẽ cho cả hệ thống internet malaysia sập 1 ngày ..Dr-ddos tes ( google, yahoo, Twitter , Amazone , Mircosoft ,NTP,…. attack internet Malaysia ) =>> http://6789team.blogspot.com/2014/12/dr-ddos-demo.html

FAM also clarified the situation by releasing a statement on their official Facebook Page, though no revelations about the identity of the hackers were made.

“FAM’s website has been breached by a third-party and our team is currently working on solving the matter. For the time being, the website will be taken down,” the statement read.

“At the same time, we’d like to take this opportunity and apologize to all Vietnamese football fans for the incident that took place right after the match between Malaysia and Vietnam last night. FAM will work hand in hand with relevant authorities in dealing with the matter.”

Plenty of Malaysian fans have also taken to social media to slam the group of fans that was responsible for the incident, while we also released an open letter, seeking cooperation between both sets of fans ahead of the second leg, which will take place this Thursday.

But beyond that, Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin also confirmed that the Royal Malaysian Police Force are already hunting after the individuals involved in the fracas.
