Tennis coaching legend Tony Roche claims that Grand Slam titles are still possible for Roger Federer, and that the 33-year-old can’t be written off just yet.
“I think he can play as long as he wants to on the mental side. Physically, I think he can play for another four-five years without any problem,” said Australian coaching legend Tony Roche.
“Another Slam definitely,” he added. “Obviously, Wimbledon is his best chance but he’s been knocking on the door in the last few Slams. As long as the guys still respect Roger, he is always going to be a threat.”
The Australian also said that Roger is by far the most talented player to have ever played the game. He trains Roger a little differently in comparison to other players, as he introduces harder practice sessions to not only use his talent but also maximize his hard work.
Tony Roche also went on mention that future slam titles can be achieved, provided that the 33 year-old stays injury free.
“It’s just the way he plays, he does not take much out of him. He is lucky to have not had any serious injuries over the years. Injuries play an important role in tennis. Look at Rafa Nadal. He’s got an unbelievable record but it could have been a lot better if he stayed healthy.”
Meanwhile, Toni Nadal, uncle to Rafael Nadal and lifelong coach of the Spaniard, has risked his nephew’s wrath by saying that Roger Federer should be considered the best player of all time.
