World Number 1 Serena Williams was not able to contribute in turning things around for her Singapore Slammers team, slumping to a fourth straight defeat in the 2nd stop of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) in Singapore.
Despite having the world number one in the four-city mixed team, the Indian Aces still managed to dominate early in the competition.
“Maybe we need to relax a little bit as we are trying too hard because we want to win so bad,” said Serena Williams.
The first team to be on the court was the Aces; and they went on to defeat the UAE by a 30-11 win in the five one-set format that is decided on the games won. The Indian Aces lead the table on 16 points, ahead of the Manila Mavericks and UAE Royals on 11 points with Singapore propping up the table on six points.
The IPTL will end its Singapore leg on Thursday, 4th of December before heading to New Delhi, India on Saturday on the 6th of December to continue the 3rd leg of the series.
