Michael Schumacher’s camp denies he is paralyzed

Michael Schumacher’s management has denied claims that the Formula One legend is paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.

This, after former racing driver Philippe Streiff publicly announced in an interview with a French radio station, that Schumacher is also suffering from memory and speech problems, after visiting him recently.

Streiff, who is himself wheelchair-bound since a crash in Brazil during pre-season tests in 1989, has been a quadriplegic ever since.

CNN correspondent, Amanda Davies however tweeted that Schumacher’s manager, Sabine Kehm, had refuted Strieff’s statements, saying “Philippe Streiff is neither a friend of Michael’s nor has he ever visited him.”

A YouTube video however appeared to show Streiff surrounded by reporters in his cars, being interviewed after having visited the seven-time champion.

A spokesperson for Schumacher added that Streiff’s comments were his own personal opinion, and that it would be some time before another official update on his condition would be released.

Back in October, the doctor treating the F1 legend had said that he was making progress, but would likely take years to recover fully.
