Glasgow has been granted hosting rights for the 2017 Badminton World Championships.
The decision was made after the Badminton World Federation saw the city’s bid for the 2017 Sudirman Cup.
The hosting rights however went to the Gold Coast, but the BWF was said to be so impressed with Glasgow’s bid, that it granted them the rights to host the World Championships instead.
The 2017 Badminton World Championships will take place in the Emirate’s Arena, which is also hosting the Scottish Open Grand Prix this week.
The 2014 Badminton World Championships were staged in Copenhagen, while the 2015 event will be held in Jakarta.
