China is recognized by many as a powerhouse when it comes to Badminton and it’s due in no small part to the fact that they have the World’s Best Shuttler, Lin Dan, donning the national jersey.
So going to a tournament in China is always a daunting prospect. Maybe even more when you’re just a 21-year old rookie. But what if you somehow survive and do well, making it all the way into the final. And your opponent on the grand stage is none other than THE Lin Dan.
That was precisely the case for Indian shuttler, Kidambi Srikanth, who faced the biggest challenge of his life earlier today, hoping for a fairytale ending to an excellent run. In this case, it really happened!
Srikanth was absolutely sensational in the final, defeating Lin Dan in straights sets with a score of 21-19, 21-17 to secure his his maiden Super Series triumph. What was even more impressive, was the manner in which he did it. Srikanth was composed throughout the match, and was tactically astute when it came to decision making, leaving the entire Badminton fraternity in a state of shock and awe.
Golly! Srikanth defeated Lin Dan? I mean Lin Dan??? Someone please wake me up lol.
