Brazilian forward Paulo Rangel has issued a threat to Selangor, claiming that he would be on the look for a new club, should they not imburse his salary within the next one week.
The Red Giants have apparently not paid Rangel since he penned a new deal with them three months ago, and the forward in return, issued a statement via his Facebook page, demanding for a resolution by next week.
Rangel, who was the Super League top scorer this year, claimed that the Selangor FA management are not appreciative of his contributions to the team and it was unfair of them to not deliver their promise. He also went on to apologize to the fans for the statement, though he added that the majority out there aren’t aware of what happens off the pitch.
But he ended the statement by saying: “It is with great sadness that I come to inform you all my fans who support me and respect my work especially to all the fans SELANGOR, that my situation is not resolved until next week, I’m taking this team and looking for a team that respects and values my work..”
This officially confirms recent speculations about Selangor players not being paid by the management. Speculations initially emerged after Selangor fans, led by Alfadli Awaluddin, confronted the players at their training ground last month, demanding for explanation as to why their form was incredibly inconsistent.
Rumours then, started spreading around, citing that the squad morale was at an all time low due to issues with unpaid salaries.
But with Rangel issuing this statement, Selangor will now be forced to find a quick solution, or risk losing the player who netted 16 goals for them throughout the Super League campaign.
