The entire Malaysian sports fraternity will be mourning the loss of a legendary sportsman in the form of ex-Malaysian goalkeeper, Peter Rajah, who passed away today
The Sabah legend suffered a cardiac arrest two days ago, and was placed under intensive care for the past 48 hours, with life support aiding him as well. Unfortunately, Peter passed away at 6.16 am earlier today, at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Kota Kinabalu.
FourthOfficial.com’s Roshan Narayan knew the man himself personally and paid tribute, citing him to be a ‘humble character with an honest and strong opinion’ about the beautiful game in general.
Peter is recognized as one of the best goalkeepers to have been produced from the country, and he featured for the national team alongside another terrific goalie in the form of R. Arumugam, who was even hailed as the Spiderman by media and fans alike.
He was part of the Sabah FA set-up for almost 23 years, retiring from the sport in 1995, and played a pivotal part in Malaysia qualifying for the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games.
