Exclusive: Video Interview with Alfadli Awaludin

“IN THE DUGOUT WITH AYSHA RIDZUAN: ALFADLI AWALUDDIN”

In a nation that possesses a fanatical fan base for foreign leagues like the English Premier League, it’s always a sign of progress when fans step up and champion the rights or for the development of local football. After going on a downward spiral back in 1995, Malaysian football has been scaling bigger heights in recent times, and that is certainly due in no small part to the role that fans have played within the local scene. So we went on quest to hunt for deeper answers regarding the Malaysian football scene.

And we found the right man.

He’s probably the most outspoken supporter Malaysian football has ever had. Al Fadli Awaludin, better known as Fad, was the main man behind ‘Presiden FAM Sila Letak Jawatan’ (PFSLJ) – a movement calling for Sultan Ahmad Shah, the former FAM President to step down after 30 years in charge. But beyond that, Fad also plays an influential role within the Ultras Malaya and Ultras Selangor movements, and was part the group that confronted the Selangor players prior to their Malaysia Cup tie against Felda United last month.

So we caught up with him for an interview, and in the first episode of our three-part interview, Fad sheds light on his opinion regarding the shift that has taken place amongst local football fans and why FAM needs to step up under the leadership of Tengku Abdullah.
