Lee Chong Wei’s B sample results are due to be released tomorrow.
Malaysia’s Youth and Sports Ministry said earlier, that the findings will only be made public by the end of next week, as it has to first be shared with the Badminton World Federation.
According to a local daily, the world number 1, who has been embroiled in a doping scandal after he allegedly failed a test during the World Championships in Denmark, has already engaged a top-notch lawyer from Europe to accompany him to Oslo.
A source told the paper that the Badminton Association of Malaysia had helped Chong Wei to engage the lawyer, who specializes in sports law, to defend him and give him the right counsel.
Chong Wei will also be accompanied by representatives from both Malaysia’s National Sports Institute and BAM.
Should the B sample results turn out positive, the BWF will have to conduct a hearing before deciding on a punishment, which could include a maximum two year suspension or a reduced sentence, depending on the athlete’s intention, track record and conduct throughout his career.
