The Badminton Association of Malaysia will reportedly hold an emergency council meeting this Sunday (October 26th), on the back of claims that the country’s top shuttler, Lee Chong Wei, had failed a dope test.
The meeting will be chaired by BAM President, Tan Sri Tengku Mahaleel Tengku Arif.
News of the scandal broke earlier this week, claiming a ‘top athlete’ reportedly tested positive for a banned substance, during a random drug test at the August World Championships in Denmark.
Although there has been no confirmation on the identity of the athlete, reports later claimed it was Lee Chong Wei who had failed the test. Authorities have refused to confirm this speculation, saying it’ll only be unfair to reveal his details as the second “B” sample results have yet to be released.
The Badminton ace was alleged to have tested positive for Dexamethasone, which is a type of steroid medication with anti-inflammatory effects, usually used to aid rehabilitation.
