Fans of Lee Chong Wei took to social media to express their disbelief and anger, following reports that the Badminton Number 1 was the ‘top athlete’ implicated in the latest doping scandal.
As reported earlier, the unnamed Malaysian athlete was randomly tested during the World Championship, and the results confirmed that he tested positive for a banned substance. An immediate re-test has already been initiated, and his identity is expected to be made public once the B-test results are processed.
I can confirm that a Msian athlete has tested positive for a banned substance. The athlete has requested for the B sample to be tested.

This was also officially confirmed by Malaysia’s Sports and Youth Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, via a press statement that was released on his Facebook page. Though no specific names were mentioned, Khairy did confirm all the reports that were circulating around.
