Johor Darul Takzim are set to establishing brand new strategic partnership with German Bundesliga giants, Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund’s Youth Development director , Edwin Boekamp was in Johor on the 16th and 17th of October, discussing potential plans and agreements that could be made.
According to the Johor Southern TIgers page, the negotiation between Edwin and the Johor Crown Prince went well, with plenty being discussed about long term plans. Both of them were also accompanied by Shebby Singh as well as Suresh Letchmanan, who currently spearheads the Dortmund’s maiden representative office in Asia.
Both parties appear to be on the same page regarding youth development plans for the age categories of 9 to 18 years old. Beyond that, the deal is also likely to pave the way for Johor DT coaches to be given unparalleled exposure at Dortmund’s HQ in Germany, which will benefit the new academy that the Southern Tigers are intending to open up in Kulai Jaya, Johor.
An exclusive meeting is likely to be held soon, where both parties will sign a definitive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This move is likely to benefit Malaysian football as a whole, considering Dortmund’s excellent track record with youth development.
