Durant undergoes surgery for foot injury

Kevin Durant has undergone surgery on his broken right foot.

Oklahoma City Thunder says the four-time NBA scoring champion would be re-evaluated in the next 6 weeks, at which the team will already be 16 games into the season.

Durant had initially complained about an aching pain in his foot, which later turned out to be a broken bone at the base of the small toe.

Its still unclear when he will return to the court again, as fractures like this often leads to complicated recoveries. Several players, such as Brooklyn Net’s Brook Lopez and the LA Clippers’ Glen Davis, had to have subsequent surgeries to fully repair their fractures.

Thunder’s basketball star averaged 32 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists a game last season.
