Danish duo linked with badminton ‘match-fixing’ scandal speak out

World number 9 Badminton player, Hans-Kristian Vittinghus and doubles player Kim Astrup have spoken out over their claims of being approached to throw their matches.

The Danish duo revealed they were approached by an unidentified Malaysian man on Facebook, who promised them up to 3,000 Euros, in addition to being able to bet on their own games.

The man alleged to have previously fixed matches in the Singapore Open, as well as the Thomas Cup.

The Badminton World Federation remains tight-lipped on the matter, though its President, Poul-Erik Hoyer admitted that the case was the biggest he could remember.

The Malaysian-based federation is currently working hand-in-hand with the authorities to investigate the match-fixing allegations.
