Terengganu forward Norfarhan Muhammad claims that he’s not paying significant attention to the various problems surrounding their Malaysia Cup quarter finals tie against Johor DT.
The match was supposed to be held simultaneously with other quarter final fixtures last week, but it was postponed after Johor DT submitted an appeal as Hariss Harun, their foreign player from Singapore, was involved in an international fixture.
FAM then announced 16th of October as the new date, which sparked controversy considering that the Terengganu FA wasn’t consulted prior to shifting the date.
However, Norfarhan insists that the entire Terengganu team is fully focused on accomplishing their target on Thursday night, adding on that the off-field issues are none of their concern.
“The atmosphere in training sessions has been excellent and our focus remains on the game, despite the flurry of problems happening off the pitch as we speak,” Norfarhan told Utusan Melayu
“We are prepared to face anything that might come up in Larkin, and in fact any other stadium as well. Provocation from the home supporters is inevitable, we’ll just have to deal with it in the right way.
“I would also like to urge my fellow teammates to not dwell on the negative issues surrounding the clash, but rather strengthen the motivation to do well and bring Terengganu into the semis,” he added.
The initian problem was sparked, when the Terengganu FA publicly voiced their displeasure at the fact that they weren’t consulted before making any alterations to the schedule of the match. But beyond that, Johor FA’s decision to only allocate 100 tickets for Terengganu fans has ignited another controversy.
In the midst of all these fracas, Norfarhan continued to maintain that the team remains focused on going to Larkin and even scoring first, as that will force Johor DT to push higher up the pitch.
“Our goal is the score first, as that will force Johor DT to push higher up the pitch, because they need two goals. But we will give everything to protect our goal and stop a team that is filled with Malaysian and foreign stars.
“I’m pretty confident on this matter. If we can remain consistent on the day, we can definitely send shockwaves throughout Larkin.”
