Two badminton players from the UK are hoping to beat the world marathon badminton record for a charity, ‘Children in Need’. Zak Crawford and his badminton coach, Jacob Coe will be making the attempt next month.
The existing record, which stands at 24 hours and five minutes, was set in the Netherlands in 2009 and the pair is hoping to beat it by playing for 25 hours.
With his sights set on becoming a badminton champion after just four months of playing the game, Zak is hoping his next record-beating bid will be just as successful.
He said: “It’s going to be tough but it will be a worthwhile challenge for a good cause. We’ve been training hard running, cycling and building up our stamina and agility”.
In 2011, Zak smashed an archery world record and raised £1,500 for ‘Children in Need’ in the process.
He took on the challenge of firing the highest number of arrows in a 24-hour period, and beat it almost twice over.
